In January 2015 sportspark was recognised by Quest and awarded the 2014/15 mystery shopper 'centre of excellence' award. The award was part of a Quest assessment which is a tool used by the leisure industry to assess standards and good practice and allows centres to benchmark their performance against other similar organisations. The judging looked at 614 leisure facilities around the country with only the Sportspark receiving the prestigious award.
The Sportspark originally opened its doors for the first time in 2000. Funded primarily by the Lottery and Sports England it has become one of the most successful community sport facilities in the UK.
Our success has been achieved through providing an accessible facility that offers a diverse range of activities with an operating policy that maximises the number of different people who can use the facility at affordable prices. Offering pay and play access as well as membership options has proven popular with our users and enabled Sportspark to generate sufficient income to keep the facility sustainable. In more recent years, in keeping with the philosophy of ongoing re-investment into and maintenance of the facilities, we have been able to further extend and refurbish the facilities.
Sportspark works within the community in an effort to develop greater participation. Our relationships with Sport England, Active Norfolk, our neighbouring district councils, as well as schools and colleges in the region have led to a number of new programming opportunities with sport's National Governing Bodies (NGB's) as part of extending our support for sport in the community. Programming is at the heart of everything we do and we are always searching for new opportunities to engage with those that aren't currently users of Sportspark.
"The UEA sportspark have supported us in many events from black belt testing’s and seminars to one of our biggest events of the year which is our European tournament. This particular event comprises of more than 800 competitors with over 2,000 spectators. The facilities and staff are well equipped to deal with this.
We have always found the staff to be professional, courteous and helpful. The facilities are always of a high standard and there is ample car parking across the site. We wish to continue to use this outstanding facility to hold future events and tournaments.
Overall a highly recommended professional sports facility."

"The concept of the Norfolk School Games finals is to give young people a memorable and exciting competitive sporting experience. The event builds on the Olympic Games as a multi-sport showcase event. The Sportspark is the perfect setting for this, with the wide range of facilities and the impressive scale of the venue it ensures that our events are memorable for the young people and helps to raise their aspirations.
Sportspark's sponsorship of the Norfolk School Games helps us as organisers to grow the games further and ensure as many young people are engaged as possible."

"I just wanted to say thanks for the way that everything has been set up for the NVA bookings recently. The courts have all been done on time, nets at the right height and the tables and scoreboards are all out ready.
Both the Friday night bookings and the regional tournaments have run smoothly so far, in no small part to the facilities and set up at the Sportspark."

"During the Active Norfolk event season we spend a lot of time at Sportspark. From the initial query all the way through the delivery of an event I have nothing but praise for all the staff. The events team are extremely efficient, approachable and a pleasure to work with. On the day of bookings we have always received an excellent service and day staff are always on hand to help if we need anything. The facilities at Sportspark are excellent and always found in great condition. We are very lucky to have a facility of this level on our doorstep and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them both in a professional events capacity and also as someone who loves a game of badminton tennis or squash in their spare time."

"I signed up for Rob Rout’s Cycling Performance Course, as I want to enter the ‘Norwich 50’ for the first time this year when I will be 64 and not really knowing what to expect. The course is very well structured and Rob gives a full and detailed explanation of what we are going to be doing each week as we are doing our ’warm up’. We were each given a set of exercises to do in the gym to improve our overall strength and fitness levels as well and I’ve found these have been extremely beneficial over the last few months.
The initial phase of the course finished at the beginning at the beginning of December and with the next phase not starting until January, once again we were given ‘homework’ to be completed over the Xmas period, so that we would maintain the levels of fitness we’d achieved.
I occasionally cycle to and from the city (a distnace of 5 miles) and i find i can stay in a higher gear for much longer than I used to and I'm enjoying my cycling more. I'll certainly continue to use some of the routines that Rob has taught/will teach us over the next 4 weeks and incorporate them into my gym workouts to give me more variety!!!
He is an excellent motivator and has pushed me to levels I wouldn't have believed i could attain."
"I am an active participant of the Cycling course that Rob began back in November 2014. I would like to take the opportunity to thoroughly praise Robert for the running of the course as a whole and the weekly sessions. His enthusiasm shines through.
The sessions are professionally run with Robert clearly balancing authority, expert knowledge, empathy and humour. Sessions run smoothly under his directions and all questions are fully and clearly answered. I have very much enjoyed every session despite them being very challenging physically."
