“Sportspark is setting a great example of an "Active Britain".
In the light of an announcement by Tracey Crouch and DCMS that there will be a fundamental review of how sport is provided in the UK, via an extensive programme of public consultation, we were visited by an ITV Anglia reporter and film crew on 4th August 2015 to find out more about Sportspark’s initiatives to get local families and communities active and engaged in sport.
In the ITV Anglia News report, aired between 6:00-6:30pm on 4th August, Phil Steele, Director of Sport at UEA Sportspark, discussed many of Sportspark’s community programmes and close working relationships with local authorities and key organisations such as Active Norfolk.
He also commented that there was a year on year increase in the number of customers using Sportspark’s swimming pool, in contrast to a national decrease in people swimming regularly.
Phil Steel commented "we would like to thank all our swimmers for maintaining their usage of Sportspark but would welcome more feedback on how we might be able to programme things differently to introduce new activities and encourage more people to enjoy our excellent facilities".
