Please also refer note that our Christmas/New Year opening hours are slightly different and full details can be found at the bottom of this section.

Sportspark is the UK's largest indoor community sports venue with areas capable of accommodating virtually any sport you can think of!

There's no need to be a member to use Sportspark's facilities, simply pay and play! Our indoor arenas and facilities include:

Climbing Wall

NEW social drop-in. Starts Saturday 26th November 2016. Come a long and met new like minded people.  The drop in will run between 20:00 and 22:30 every Saturday and costs £1.70 for members and £4.45 for non- members. 

NEW 6 week family climbing course.  Starting January 2017 we have introduced a 6 week family climbing course. This course is designed for parents / guardians of juniors (6+) that have learned to climb and now wish to climb out session of structure session and for those families that wish to learn a new sport together.  The course will allow parents/ guardian to work with juniors (6+) and learn how to belay them.  There will limited time during the course for the adults to climb.

New 6 week school to 7 year old climbing course. Starting January 2017 we have introduced a 6 week school to 7 year old climbing course.  This course has been introduce to cater for the under 8 that we currently do not run anything for.  This course will introduce children to roped climbing.  

Norfolk might be the flattest county but there's no reason why you can't climb at Sportspark. Come and try your hand at ‘The Peak' – the largest indoor climbing wall in Norfolk with a Bouldering Cave, overhang and routes to challenge all levels of ability.

Climbing Induction and Registration

To climb unsupervised at the Sportspark all climbers (aged 16+) must attend a short induction and sign our registration form. 

An induction to the climbing wall costs £10 and this includes your first years registration. After the first year registration must be completed annually and the cost of this is £10 per person.

Climbing Induction Timetable
Led by a qualified instructor, climbing wall inductions last a maximum of 30 minutes and are available every week at the following times:

Tuesday 19:30 and 20:00
Saturday 12:30 and 13:00

These can be booked online, via the kiosks in Sportspark's reception, in person at the Sportspark reception desk or by calling (01603) 592398 between 10:00-21:00 hours, Monday-Sunday. For information on how to book a Sportspark activity, please refer our menu bar (top right) How To Book

 

Climbing Induction structure
During the climbing induction, participants will be asked to demonstrate the following:

  • tying in
  • putting on your harness
  • belaying
  • lowering


The induction will also include:

  • a question and answer session
  • hazard identification
     

You will also be asked to sign an agreement to confirm that you understand and accept Sportspark’s climbing registration terms and conditions.

Once you have passed the induction, you will be able to climb unsupervised. 

If you have not demonstrated the required climbing skills during the induction, or have not provided satisfactory responses/knowledge during the question and answer session, you will be required to attend one of Sportspark’s six week climbing courses or arrange one-to-one climbing tuition, before reassessment can take place. The climbing instructor will be able to provide you with further details of our courses/further training opportunities during the induction.

Climbers Aged 16 or 17
Please note that any climber aged 16 or 17 will need their registration form signed by a parent or guardian.

 

Casual Climbing Prices

For all registered adult climbers, we offer casual climbing sessions. Climbing prices are listed in our current Price List under "Miscellaneous" and usage is charged in 90 minute blocks.  Non-members pay the Pay and Play price. Members pay the peak or off-peak members/concession fee (depending on the time of day that they visit).

Climbing Taster Sessions

We run taster sessions throughout the year for both adults & juniors. Taster sessions provide 90 minutes of expert guidance in a small group. For more information on our climbing tasters and courses click here.


Climbing Courses

Junior Climbing Club

Thursday 17:00-18:30, Saturdays 09:00-10:30, 10:30-12:00
The Junior Climbing Club gives any child under 16 who has completed two Sportspark climbing courses the chance to climb. There is an annual fee to join the club of £5.00. A fully qualified instructor is there to give Members expert tips and challenges. The cost is £5.00 per session. During this time the wall is exclusively for Members of the Junior Climbing Club.


Junior Climbing Academy 

Thursday 18:30-20:00, Saturday 18:30-20:00
The Junior Climbing Academy is for young established climbers aged 8-16. Please speak to a Sportspark climbing instructor for further details.


Group Bookings

Looking for an unusual activity for your group, office or with friends? You can book a group (maximum number of eight) for a climbing session (120 minutes) with a qualified climbing instructor and equipment. Please note, some time restrictions apply to private bookings. Climbing Parties

Sportspark offers a range of themed party packages for children incuding gymnastics, climbing and archery. Our climbing parties offer a fun and challenging environment in which everyone can safely learn some basic climbing skills. Climbing parties are suitable for children aged 8 years+, for a maximum of 8 children. Badminton

Sometimes size really does matter and that's why we have not one but two of the largest sports halls in the country with 20 badminton Courts at your disposal. Both arenas have sprung wooden floors.

In addition to casual court hire, we also offer many drop-in sessions for all ages and levels plus 6 week adult beginners badminton courses throughout the year.

Court hire is available in 40 minute blocks.

How to Book A Badminton Court
Badminton courts (casual hire) are bookable by phone and in person. To make a telephone booking, please call (01603) 592398 between 10:00-21:00 hours, Monday-Sunday, and have your payment card details ready.

We also accept online bookings during the following bookable periods:

Monday-Sunday: 07:00 - 08:20 hrs
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday:  16:20 until last booking at 21:40

Members can book up to 14 days in advance and non-members can book up to 7 days in advance.

Badminton Drop-In Sessions
All of the following sessions are a great way to improve your badminton skills and play with different people. These are friendly and welcoming sessions and you don't need to come with a badminton partner, just turn up and play.

Please note that although these are drop-in sessions, they can also be booked in advance. By booking in advance it will ensure that you get a space within your preferred session during busy periods.  For information on how to book, please refer to our guide here

Badminton League

Starting on Monday 6th February 2017 Sportspark will be starting up it Badminton league again. Entries for the league must be in by 12:00 on Monday 30th January 2017.

The first league will be singles however if your are interested in doubles (mixed or level) then please indicate this by emailing sportspark.badmintonleagues@uea.ac.uk and these will start. as soon as possible.

Racket Hire
Rackets are available for hire from reception at a cost of £1.50. (£10 deposit for rackets - or by leaving your Gold/Silver or Bronze Sportscard at reception).
Shuttlecocks are available to buy at £1.35 each.

Squash

Squash  courts are bookable from 07:00 to last booking 21:40.

Court hire is available in 40 minute blocks.

Squash Courses

Squash League
If you want to play regular squash with others of a similar standard, why not join one of our friendly singles leagues.

Indoor Sports: Basketball, Netball, Volleyball, 5-a-side Football

Team Sports - Court Hire
Sportspark's indoor arenas can be used for a variety of team sports including basketball, netball, volleyball, 5-a-side football, roller derby and korfball.

Court hire, (full/half court), is available in 40 minute slots.

Basketball Drop-In Sessions
Come along to our open basketball session which takes place every Saturday between 20:20 and 22:20 in Halls 4/5.

There's no need to book, just turn up and play.

Price: £2.25 for members / £2.90 for non-members

The following martial arts clubs use Sportspark as a teaching venue, but Sportspark don't actually run their own martial arts classes/clubs:

National Martial Arts Committee (NMAC)

The professional Martial Arts organisation, Coaching Children as young as 4 Years old, right through to the mature student ! You have the opportunity to train in Tae Kwon Do, TaeBox, Effective Self Defence and Freestyle. With regular Gradings, Courses and Competitions there is a choice for everyone.

Norwich WTF Taekwondo
Norwich WTF Taekwondo is headed up by a Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters in Korea) recognised 8th Dan Black Belt.
 
The group teaches Taekwondo as a martial art and modern day Olympic sport and is the only Taekwondo club in the Norwich area that teaches WTF Style Taekwondo (World Taekwondo Federation) often referred to as Olympic Taekwondo. Classes are held at the Sportspark and other local venues for children and adults of all ages and abilities.

Arena Rules

  • Please note that the time required to set-up and take down equipment for your activity, will take place during your 40 minute hire session.
  • No open-topped drinks are allowed within the arenas/sports halls. Please use closed containers.
  • No food is allowed within the arenas/sports halls.
  • No chewing gum is allowed within the arenas/sports halls.
  • Please wear appropriate sports attire/clothing. Please wear sports tops (i.e., t-shirts, sweatshirts), at all times (no bare torsos please). No jeans allowed.
  • Please wear appropriate footwear. Do not wear shoes that may make marks on the arena floor, nor wear high heels.
  • Please use the dry-changing rooms to change into/out of sports attire. Do not use the arena stores nor court areas as a changing room.
  • Please ensure that bags and belongings are not left on or around the arenas/sports halls. Please store belonging in the lockers provided within the dry-changing rooms (upstairs). Further details on our locker policies can be found here.
  • Children aged 12 years and under are not to be left unattended at time.
  • Please be courteous to others and wait outside for your activity to commence.
  • Sportspark’s standard terms and conditions of use apply to all activities.
  • Sportspark reserves the right to terminate your activity if you do not comply with the above rules.
  • Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to speak to one of our Sports Assistants or Duty Manager on charge.
