SPRING is Sportspark's Gymnastics and Trampolining Centre and is fully equipped to provide the best facilities for recreational level Gymnastics and Trampolining in the country. It has foam filled pits, asymmetric bars/high bar, rings, parallel bars, beams, pummel horse, fast track, tumble track, vaulting track, two floor level trampolines with rig, a sprung floor area, wall bars and mirrors.

We offer drop-in classes, short and long courses (term time) for everyone from pre-school children, juniors and adults. For more information on all of our current SPRING Gymnastics classes, please see below.

Beginner and Improver Gymnastic Courses (Term-length)

Our beginner and improver gymnastic courses run the length of each school term period. Our next term-length courses start week commencing:

  • 9th January 2017 (Priority rebooking from 9th November 2016, public bookings opens 24th November 2016)
  • The following courses are full Monday 16:00 and 16:30 school - 7 year old beginner, Tuesday 16:30 school - 7 year old beginner, Thursday 16:00 school - 7 year old improver and Thursday 17:00 8 - 10 year old beginner.  All other course have spaces available (correct at the time of publications please check with Sportspark for update availability)  


Please do not submit booking forms prior to the booking dates as they will not be process. All booking are on a first come basis and payment must be taken at the time of booking.


Beginner Gymnastics courses (school aged children and upwards)
An introduction to gymnastics and its apparatus. Participants learn the basic skills that provide a foundation in gymnastics. Moves taught may include rolls, cartwheels, handstands, walkovers, jumps, leaps and spins on the floor.


Improver Gymnastics courses (school age - 13 years old) 
Improver courses may be more appropriate for those who have mastered the basic skills. There is more focus on conditioning and strengthening exercises that are needed to achieve more difficult skills. Participants progress to more difficult skills.

To book onto a course, simply refer to the timetable and find the level and age-range that is most suitable for your child - for example, beginner: 8 - 10 years old. Term length beginners gymnastics courses are marked in pale-pink, and term length improver gymnastics courses are marked in pale-blue.

Choose your preferred day and time and then enter details of the course level (beginner/improver), age range, day and time onto a Sportspark Booking Form and return to Sportspark’s reception (from the enrolment date specified), together with full payment. As courses book up very quickly, we also recommend that you indicate a second choice of day/time.

6 Week Gymnastic Courses

Our next SPRING Gymnastics 6 week courses including Adult Gymnastics, Freestyle Gymnastics (incorporating Parkour and free-running), Acro,  Tumbling and Pre-School Independent start week commencing:

Course Descriptions

Tumbling (10-15 years old)
Learn to tumble down our full length tumble track.

Freestyle Gymnastics (13+ years old) 
A new and emerging branch of gymnastics which includes aspects of parkour, free running, tricking, break-dance and martial arts in a safe indoor environment. Classes include a structured warm up and cool down lead by one of our Freestyle coaches, followed by an open session for gymnasts to use the equipment in new and creative ways. Gymnasts are given a certain level of freedom to develop their own “paths” within the gymnastics centre, but coaches will be on hand to supervise and to introduce skills to beginners.

Adult Gym (16+)
A structured, coached session, catering for all abilities. 

Pre-school Independent (3-5 year olds)
A structured course for children who are taught gymnastics skills on the pre-school apparatus. Parents do not take part but are welcome to watch the sessions from the viewing gallery.

How to Book - SPRING Gymnastic Courses

To book onto any SPRING Gymnastics Course, please check the course dates and  enrolment/bookable from date, then complete a fill in a Sportspark Booking Form and return to Sportspark’s reception together with full payment or send to.

ACCESS CARDS FOR JUNIOR COURSES
Please note, for all junior courses, the course price include 2 x Sportspark free access cards.  These are made available to allow parents/guardians to drop off and pick up children without having to pay the standard Sportspark 60p entrance fee. Free access cards will need to be scanned at the turnstiles on each visit to Sportspark. Failure to do so will result in the standard entry fee being charged. Please note that there is a replacement charge of £3.00 for any lost cards.

Please also note that as per Sportspark's terms and conditions of use, all children under the age of 12 years attending any courses should be handed over/collected from teaching staff by a parent or guardian aged 16+, and not left unsupervised at the teaching venue.

Gift vouchers
These make an ideal gift and can be purchased for full or part payment of courses or taster sessions and are available in values of £5.00. For more details, please ask at Reception.

Gymnastic Course Rules

  1. Please ensure you are on time for the session (if the warm up is missed then you will not be able to take part).
  2. No shoes please.
  3. No jewellery please.
  4. Clothing must be of the appropriate type. No loose clothing, abrasive fabrics, zips, buttons, buckles, belts or loose cords.
  5. No photos or video recording please.
  6. All long hair must be tie back.
  7. No open-top drinks and no food.
  8. Listen to and follow the instructions from the coach at all times.
  9. Please walk between apparatus - do not run.
  10. Be kind to all in the gymnastic centre.
  11. Please inform the Coach of any injury or illness before the beginning of the class.
  12. No taking your child out of the session early unless discussed with a coach
  13. Please do not enter the gym or go on any apparatus without a coach being present.


These rules have been put in place for the upkeep of the centre but most importantly to keep you and your children as safe as possible whilst participating in the any gymnastic sessions.

Drop-in Sessions - Pre-School

Our weekly pre school drop-in sessions are very popular and are bookable up to 10 days in advance for a maximum of 2 children. Drop-ins usually run during term-time only (please see are holiday section further down the page for our holiday program) please check with reception for updates and our home page notices.

Pre-school Play Sessions (walking - school age)
An unstructured class where children and parents play together on the pre-school apparatus under the supervision of coaches.


Pre-school Taught sessions (walking - school age)
A structured class for children and parents.  Coaches teach basic gymnastics skills on pre-school apparatus.


Cost: £4.00 per session


Pre-school  Play/Taught Rules:

  • Recommended ratio - one child per Parent/ Guardian (maximum 1 parent  to 2 children). 
  • For safety, Parents/Guardians are required to supervise their child(ren) at all times during the session.
  • No shoes or jewellery to be worn.
  • Please inform the Coach of any injury or illness before the beginning of the class.
  • Only one child on a trampoline at a time.
  • No climbing on the high grey steps and platforms.
  • No picking/ pulling/ biting of the foam.
  • Please discourage your children from putting the small hand held equipment in the foam pit.
  • Please do not enter the gym or go on any apparatus without a coach being present.
  • Please use the baby changing facilities upstairs to change your child’s nappy.


These rules have been put in place for the upkeep of the centre but most importantly to keep you and your children as safe as possible whilst participating in the pre-school sessions.


How to Book

Even though these are drop-ins sessions, we do recommend booking in advance, as the sessions are very popular (especially the morning ones).

If you are new to Sportspark, the first time you book, it is best to call our bookings line on tel: 01603 592398. This number is only available for bookings between 10:00-21:00 hours,  Monday-Sunday.

However, when you come in to Sportspark, please ask one of our Customer Service Advisors to set you up with an online booking account (this can only be done in person).

Please note, that to do so you’ll be asked to present photo ID that shows your current address (i.e., a driver’s license), and provide your email address and mobile number.

The online account will hopefully make it easier for you to book your chosen activity in future. As mentioned above, pre-school gymnastics drop-in sessions are bookable up to 10 days in advance.

Drop-in Sessions - Teen and Veterans

Our weekly drop-in sessions are very popular and are bookable up to 10 days in advance. Drop-ins usually run during term-time only so please check with reception for updates. 

Teen Gym (14-16)
Best described as a “club within a club”, this drop-in puts gymnasts in control of their own programme, whilst working alongside their coach on areas that they would like to improve/develop.
Cost: £5 per session for members / £5.60 non-members. £5 annual registration. 


Veterans (16+) 
Designed for those with experience in gymnastics. Coaches will be on hand for safety but will not be teaching on the apparatus. 
Cost:  £5 members / £5.60 non-members.

School Holiday Gymnastic Programme - Mini-Springers and Springers

During nearly every school holiday, SPRING Gymnastics run a fantastic Mini-Springers and Springers programme (Feb 17 Half Term):-

Mini-Springers: sessions for up to 32 participants. Suitable for children who are walking up until 8 years old. Children can play on all of the apparatus with parents supervising their children.

Springers: sessions for up to 20 participants. Suitable for children/juniors aged 9-15. Participants can use the gymnastics equipment (excluding trampolines), under the supervision of coaches.

Cost: £4.00 per session


Mini-Springer Rules

SPRING Gymnastics - Terms and Conditions

Terms and conditions

  • All courses must be pre-booked and are subject to availability.
  • Forms are administered in order of receipt from the bookable date.
  • Refunds are only available if we are able to fill your place on the course.


Please note that like our Adult open gym sessions, there are restrictions on the level of moves that will be allowed during these sessions (e.g. no double somersaults or multiple twisting somersaults).

Gymnastics Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct for Coaches / Officials / Volunteers

  • Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance

  • Develop an appropriate working relationship with performers based on mutual trust and respect

  • Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover

  • Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part and ensure all participants are suitably prepared physically and mentally when learning new skills

  • Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance, dressing suitably and not using inappropriate language at any time whilst involved with club activities

  • Never consume alcohol immediately before or during training or events

  • Obtain prior agreement from the parent/guardian of performers before transporting them anywhere

  • Never exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward

  • Always report any incidents, referrals or disclosures immediately, following the appropriate guidelines set out in the Child Protection procedures

  • Never condone rule violations or use of prohibited substances

  • Make sure that confidential information is not divulged unless with the express approval of the individual concerned

  • Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play)

  • Encourage performers to value their performances and not just results

  • Give full commitment to methodology of coaching regardless of personal feeling towards gymnast, their level of ability, age 

  • Follow all guidelines laid down by British Gymnastics and Sportspark

  • Recognise the rights of all gymnasts to be treated as individuals

  • Provide and maintain as environment free of fear and harassment

  • Do not engage in any form of sexually related contact with an any gymnast

  • Should promote the welfare and best interests of the gymnasts.

 

Code of Conduct for Gymnasts

  • We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all our members. The club believes it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with the nominated Maria Rowe. You are expected to abide by the following club rules

  • All participates must participate within the rules and respect coaches, judges and their decisions

  • All participate must respect opponents and fellow club members

  • Participants must keep to agreed timings for training and competitions.

  • Participants must wear suitable attire for training -Leotard / Shorts

  • Participants must arrive on time and complete the warm up, if the warm up is missed you will not be permitted into the session

  • Keep all long hair tied back

  • Remove all body jewellery

  • Socks are not permitted during training unless requested by the coach

  • Participants should treat all equipment with respect

  • Participants should treat the sports centre and its surroundings with respect

  • Participants must inform the head coach of any injuries or illness they may have before the warm-up begins or at the onset if occurs during the session

  • Participants must not use bad language.

  • Participants must remain within the training hall at all times unless given permission to leave by the coach in charge

  • If a member feels they are being unfairly treated or having difficulties with a particular task during a session they should approach their coach or another club official at an appropriate time and in an appropriate manner.

Failure to comply with any of the above rules may result in you being asked to leave the session immediately

 

Code of Conduct for Parents

Parents are requested to:

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them

  • Discourage unfair play and arguing with club staff/officials

  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results

  • Never force your child to take part in sport

  • Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all

  • Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes

  • Publicly accept officials'/coaches judgments

  • Support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their sport

  • Use correct and proper language at all times

  • Never use threatening or abusive behaviour towards children, officials, coaches or other parents

  • Respect all facilities made available so that your child can practice his/hers sport

  • Report to the Gymnastic Manager any perceived misconduct by coach, gymnast, parent and official so it can be dealt with in the appropriate manner.

Children's University - Passport To Learning Stamps

Sportspark is proud be an official Norfolk Children's University Learning Destination and supports the Passport To Learning scheme.

Sportspark issues Passport To Learning stamps for successful completion of our 6 week Sports Courses (i.e., archery, climbing, Fit Kidz, squash), Gymnastics Courses and Learn To Swim Programme. (Please note that tasters and drop-in sessions do not count towards the Passport To Learning scheme).
