      The times below are the general opening hours for each area. For more specific times and availability for particular activities please refer to the relevant pages. Please also refer note that our Christmas/New Year opening hours are slightly different and full details can be found at the bottom of this section.

      Sportspark opens at normal times during bank holidays.

There are 10 activities to choose from including Aquafit, BadminTone, Boxercise, Cheer Chics , Cycle and Stretch,  Learn to Jog and more!

If you want to tone up, increase your flexibility, lose weight, or just have fun whilst getting fit and healthy, we have a course to suit you!

Sportivate courses are open to all females aged 18-25 years old and cost just £12 for a 6 week course.  For more details, including booking information and all terms and conditions, please read on!

Course Descriptions

Stretch Tone and Relax

Feeling stiff? Want to tone up? Feeling stressed and want to relax? If so, our Stretch, Tone and Relax course is perfect for you!

Within the 6 week course you will learn to improve your posture through a variety of stretching techniques whilst learning to control your breathing and engaging your core muscles. As you advance within the course, you’ll be activating your muscles and toning them by holding certain positions.

Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive a free voucher to redeem against 1 x drop-in session plus a free yoga mat!  (Providing that you have attended 5 out of the 6 sessions during the Sportivate course).

 

BadminTone

Tone up whilst getting fit and healthy!

Badminton will help tone your arms and core so it is perfect for those wishing to tone up in a fun and friendly environment, rather than being bored alone in the gym.

Our BadminTone instructor will coach you through the basic skills for beginners and each week as you progress, she will introduce more skills and drills.

Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive a free voucher to redeem against 1 x drop-in session plus a free badminton racket!  (Providing that you have attended 5 out of the 6 sessions during the Sportivate course)

 

Cardio Squash

Do you want to get active but dread going to the gym? Cardio Squash is aimed at complete beginners and has many benefits including weight loss, improving core strength and improving overall fitness!

During the 6 week course, you will learn the rules of squash, how to hit the ball, and improve your skills, tactics and fitness as the course progresses.

Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive a free voucher to redeem against 1 x drop-in session.  (Providing that you have attended 5 out of the 6 sessions during the Sportivate course)

 

Learn to Climb

Climbing has many benefits such as increasing your core strength, fitness and health!

Sportivate Learn to Climb is a very basic beginner’s course. You will meet new people who haven’t climbed before and step by step you will develop new skills so that you gain confidence in climbing. Develop your climbing skills on Sportspark’s very own climbing wall, then relax with a nice tea or coffee in our own Sportscafé.

 

Boxercise

Get fit and healthy with our Boxercise course!

You don’t need to be the next Rocky Balboa to take part in Boxercise! You will learn technique, drills and combinations.

Boxing is a great way to tone up and lose weight, whilst increasing your health due to the cardiovascular exercise.

Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive a free voucher to redeem against 1 x drop-in session.  (Providing that you have attended 5 out of the 6 sessions during the Sportivate course)

 

Cycle and Stretch

Cycling is a great way to tone up your legs and lose a few lbs!

Class sessions will start with mobility and stretching exercises, whilst slowly increasing your heart rate through cycling. The sessions will focus on the fitness aspect for the first 15-20 minutes, and then the rest of the 30 minute session will be stretches.

Throughout the course you will gradually increase the time spent doing fitness and reduce the time doing the stretches.

Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive a free voucher to redeem against 1 x drop-in session.  (Providing that you have attended 5 out of the 6 sessions during the Sportivate course)

 

LBT (Legs, Bums and Tums)

The LBT class will start with a gradual warm up, stretches and then resistance exercises focusing on the lower body and core, before cooling down and stretching. With guidance of the qualified instructor, you will improve your technique.

LBT will tone the lower body and core. You will learn exercises such as lunges, squats and planks.

Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive a free voucher to redeem against 1 x drop-in session.  (Providing that you have attended 5 out of the 6 sessions during the Sportivate course)

 

Aquafit

Get fit in the pool with some up to date music and a fun atmosphere.

The Aquafit class will start with a gradual warm up, stretches and then resistance exercises in the water, focusing on the whole body before cooling down and stretching. Each week you will be taught new exercises and more advanced skills such as treading.

Aquafit is highly recommended for people who want low impact exercises which will help you tone up and lose weight.

Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive some hydro discs which can be used in future Aquafit classes that you may attend.   (Providing that you have attended 5 out of the 6 sessions during the Sportivate course)

 

Learn to Jog

The Learn to Jog class will start with a gradual warm up, stretches and mobility. On the first session, everyone will do a fitness test which you will complete to your own ability – it doesn’t matter whether you walk or jog - the instructor will work with you personally to set a goal to achieve by the end of the 6 weeks. You will then be set a 6-week technique and training plan to gradually build up your confidence and jogging ability.

 

Cheer Chics

Cheer Chics will be a lively fun class bringing the social element to exercise.

Cheerleading is an overall full body workout which is lively and social. You can burn calories whilst listening to some great music and working on routines. It is a great introduction to exercise rather than being bored in the gym. Meet some new people and get active together!

Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive a free voucher to redeem against 1 x drop-in session.  (Providing that you have attended 5 out of the 6 sessions during the Sportivate course)

To book onto a course, complete a fill in a Sportspark Booking Form and return to Sportspark’s reception together with full payment or send to.

Terms and Conditions

  • Sportspark’s standard terms and conditions of use apply to all course participants.
  • Sportivate courses are open to all ages however priority booking will be given to females aged 18-25 years old.
  • Sportivate courses are bookable from the 20th June 2016, and are subject to availability on a first come first served basis.    
  • Sportivate course bookings are only confirmed once Sportspark has received a course booking form AND payment for the course in full. No refunds will be payable for not turning up to a class.
  • Where indicated on the booking form, please detail any medical conditions or disabilities that you may have, so that we can make suitable arrangements for you.
  • Only the person named on the course booking form may participate in the Sportivate course. The course cannot be shared with friends/multiple participants.
  • All course participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
  • At the discretion of the Sportivate Coordinator, a reward/incentive scheme may be offered on some Sportivate activity courses. Where applicable, to be eligible for the reward/incentive, participants will be required to attend at least 5 out of the 6 course sessions. The reward/incentive, will be in the form of a free activity voucher which can be used for one of Sportspark’s drop-in sessions, subject to availability.   • All dates and times are as per the Sportivate timetable. However, in the unlikely event that the course date/time needs to be adjusted, Sportspark reserve the right to do so, and will inform course participants accordingly.
  • If you have any problems or queries about a Sportivate course, please email Danni Carr at scd.sportspark@uea.ac.uk
  • There may be an official photographer in attendance within Sportspark during all or some of the Sportivate classes. Therefore, photographs and film footage of anyone participating in a Sportivate course, may be used by Sportspark in a variety of promotional channels which may include (but is not limited to) news footage, printed material, digital channels including website pages and social media, press releases, etc.
