About our Massage and Physiotherapy Suite

Sportspark’s Physiotherapy and Massage Suite offers professional treatment and recovery services for anyone looking to stay active, recover from injury, or simply feel their best. Whether you’re managing a sports injury, easing muscle tension, or aiming to improve performance and mobility, our expert therapists provide tailored support to help you move well and stay well.

Physiotherapy

Our team of expert Chartered Physiotherapists specialising in the management of musculoskeletal back, neck, and limb pain. This includes sports injuries, post-operative management, rehabilitation, and persistent pain.

Your appointment will include a comprehensive assessment and tailored treatment plan. Your physiotherapist will work with you to identify and attain what’s most important to you.

    Dr Rachel Chester

    Rachel Chester has worked as a Chartered Physiotherapist for over 35 years. She has worked in the NHS and Private Practice in the UK and abroad. Her specialist areas have included working with people with spinal Injuries at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and as a Clinical Physiotherapy Specialist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

    Rachel is an Associate Professor in Physiotherapy at the University of East Anglia. She lectures to students and post registration physiotherapists. Rachel currently has about 50 publications about treatments for a wide range of musculoskeletal problems. Journals include the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Rachel has particular expertise in shoulder pain, teaching internationally, contributing to clinical guidelines, and presenting her shoulder research at national and international conferences.

    Stefan Deniel-Culshaw

    Stefan is uea+sport’s Performance Physiotherapist and specialises in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal injuries, particularly those of a sporting nature. Before completing his Masters degree in Physiotherapy, Stefan gained a Bachelors degree in Sport and Exercise Science and became a qualified personal trainer and sport massage therapist. By combining his experience from each area, Stefan aims to diagnose and resolve your issue, before helping adapt your training programme to best protect you against future injury.

    Ben Bumphrey

    Ben is one of uea+sport's Performance Physiotherapists that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. 

    Having spent time in the NHS as a Senior Physiotherapist, he is passionate about treating your injuries and getting you back to full fitness with a combination of evidenced-based exercise programs and manual therapy techniques.

    Before he completed his Masters degree in Physiotherapy, Ben obtained a Bachelors degree in Physical Education (PESH) and has a background of personal training and sports massage to compliment his knowledge.

  • helena

    Helena Daniel

    Helena also works as a senior physiotherapist in the NHS and has particular interests and experience in treating sports injuries, managing long term conditions, and post-operative rehabilitation.

    She strives to provide evidence-based practice for her patients and is experienced in exercise prescription, aiming to empower patients to help themselves. Helena has been trained by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute in Matwork Pilates level 3 and incorporates this into her exercise programmes. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma from the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine. She has worked as a senior rheumatological physiotherapist and currently treats patients with spinal, and upper and lower limb problems, including those who have had surgery.

    Helena graduated from UEA with a BSc in Physiotherapy, and subsequently completed a Postgraduate Diploma with the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine. She is an associate tutor at the UEA and actively promotes research in her profession, having published several articles in National and International journals and presented at the Physiotherapy Research Society Conference in 2018.

  • Iris Lo

    Iris Lo

    Iris is a senior physiotherapist in the NHS and a medical student in Norwich Medical School. She specialises in manage acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions management and post-operative rehabilitation.

    As a holistic practitioner, she highly emphasises in patient education which is the foundation of patient empowerment and self-management. She has also completed her diploma for Acupuncture approved by the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and has used acupuncture to enhance her exercise program on a regular basis.

    Musculoskeletal physiotherapy aside, Iris has a strong background of respiratory medicine. Her experience working in Intensive care units & respiratory units during COVID-19 has inspired her to work with help adult and paediatric sports lovers with long-term breathing conditions post cardiac procedures to return to sports safely.

    Iris completed her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and would like to continue serving the community with her skills and knowledge in Norwich as a physiotherapist.

    Daisy Pearson

    Daisy is studying BSc Physiotherapy at the University of East Anglia and is a qualified Sports Massage Therapist. She has a strong interest in sports and rehabilitation, particularly in the treatment and management of musculoskeletal injuries. Daisy takes a holistic approach to sports massage, focusing on supporting individuals, promoting healthy lifestyles, and providing effective, personalised care. Outside of university, she enjoys going to the gym, creating art, and walking along the Norfolk coast.

    Tim Chuk

    Tim is a BSc Physiotherapy student at the University of East Anglia with a strong passion for sport and performance. As a healthcare student, he understands the importance of sports massage and professional advice in enhancing recovery, performance, and overall wellbeing. Tim takes a holistic, patient-centred, and results-driven approach to treatment, finding it rewarding to see the positive progress his clients make. He has experience providing pre- and post-event massage for weightlifting athletes and treating a range of common sports injuries. His goal is to help every client reach their full potential.

    Billy is a 2nd Year BSc Physical Activity and Health student at UEA with aspirations to progress onto the MSc Physiotherapy programme. He has had a passion for sport from a young age, particularly Rugby, and has developed a strong interest in rehabilitation and the benefits of treatments such as Sports Massage Therapy.     Samuel is an MSc Physiotherapy student at UEA with a background in Biological Sciences from The University of Hong Kong. He has experience in MSK outpatient care, multidisciplinary rehabilitation, and working with athletes, developing strong skills in assessment, recovery, and functional rehabilitation. Samuel adopts a patient-centered approach, combining evidence-based treatments with preventative and strength-focused programs. Certified in sports massage and personal training, he is passionate about helping individuals achieve their health and performance goals.

    Anna is currently a BSc Physiotherapy student at the University of East Anglia and earned a ProActive Sports Massage qualification in December 2023. During a placement at the UEA Sportspark, Anna gained experience in musculoskeletal assessments, injury rehabilitation and post-event massage. She is excited to use her skills to help athletes maintain their training levels and achieve their full potential.

    Matt Menne

    Matt is a third-year BSc Physiotherapy student at UEA with a strong passion for sports, exercise, and rehabilitation. He has experience working with athletes across a range of sports and understands the importance of targeted recovery. Matt specialises in delivering effective, individualised sports massage treatments that support performance, aid recovery, and help prevent injury.
