About Inclusive Club

Our Inclusive Sports Club takes place every Wednesday from 11:40 to 13:00 and welcomes disabled groups, individuals aged 16+ and their carers.

We offer a variety of sporting activities, including football, hockey, tennis, circuit training, athletics, and more. Wherever possible, carers are encouraged to join in the fun, supporting participants in each activity. The club costs just £1.50 per participant and is free for carers. To avoid disappointment, we recommend booking in advance via Sportspark.

In addition to our Wednesday session, we also run other inclusive activities throughout the week, which are listed further down the page.

Please help us spread the word! For more information, call us on 01603 591261.

We’ve also partnered with Special Olympics to offer tailored sessions at Sportspark. For details about these sessions, contact Special Olympics directly at specialolympics@activenorfolk.org or visit their website.

Inclusive Cycling Sessions

Our Inclusive Cycling sessions take place outdoors on the Sportspark Athletics Track, providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for cyclists of all abilities.

These sessions are designed for people with additional needs, disabilities, or long-term health conditions, giving participants the opportunity to enjoy cycling at their own pace. Riders can bring their own bike or use one of our specially adapted cycles, with support available throughout the session.

Each session lasts 45 minutes and is limited to 10 cyclists, helping to create a calm and inclusive experience. Participants attend alongside a family member or carer, who is responsible for providing direct support, including helping cyclists on and off bikes and offering assistance during the session.

Our coaches and volunteers will be on hand to issue bikes and helmets and provide guidance throughout.

Session cost: £1.50 per participant

Carers: Free of charge

Sessions are held at the Sportspark Athletics Track, where our coaches and volunteers will be waiting to welcome you.

Due to high demand, booking in advance is recommended. To book, please call 01603 592398. Pay on arrival may be available, subject to capacity.

Wheels for All at Sportspark

Sportspark is proud to be Bronze affiliated with Wheels for All, a national movement working to break down barriers to cycling for disabled people and those living with long-term health conditions.

This partnership allows us to work together to create local, inclusive cycling opportunities at Sportspark, using adapted cycles and supported sessions in a safe and welcoming environment.

Our Inclusive Cycling sessions form part of the Norwich Wheels for All at Sportspark programme, helping more people access the physical, mental, and social benefits of cycling.

You can read more information online here.

Facilities and accessibility

Sportspark offers full facility support, including:

Accessible toilets

On-site café for food and drinks before or after sessions

On-site parking at the UEA Sportspark Car Park (tickets can be validated at reception)

Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, comfortable closed-toe shoes, and ensure a helmet is worn at all times while cycling.

Inclusive Climbing

Our Inclusive Climbing sessions are designed to help young people build confidence and enjoy climbing in a supportive, welcoming environment.

These sessions provide a natural progression from our Family Climbing sessions and are aimed at helping more children access the climbing wall, try something new, and develop their skills in a way that feels comfortable and fun.

Inclusive Climbing is specifically for children aged 8–15 years with additional needs or vulnerabilities. By offering a bespoke session, we can create an environment where participants feel more at ease, more engaged, and able to enjoy climbing at their own pace.

Cost: £5.00 per session

Please note that a form must be completed before taking part, so we recommend booking in advance by calling 01603 592398. For more information, contact our Sport Development team at scd.sportspark@uea.ac.uk

DAYTIME

Friday17:30 - 18:30

What to expect

  • Sessions are led by qualified, experienced, and DBS-checked climbing instructors

  • A friendly, inclusive, and welcoming environment where everyone is supported

  • No prior climbing experience required. These sessions are suitable for complete beginners

  • A dedicated, quieter session with smaller groups to help participants feel more comfortable

  • Encouragement to explore climbing safely, build confidence, and enjoy movement in a positive setting

Our instructors take time to understand individual needs and adapt activities so everyone can take part and have a positive experience.

Gymnastics SEND Sessions

This session is designed for children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) and their siblings.

Each 45-minute class gives children the chance to explore and play on all our gymnastics equipment with the support of their parent or carer. A new themed setup is created each week to keep sessions fun and engaging.

We recommend one parent, guardian or carer per child, though two children to one parent is also fine. Parents are responsible for their children throughout the session, and two qualified coaches will be on hand to offer guidance and support.

No music is played during these sessions to create a calm and comfortable environment.

Parkinson's UK Exercise Group

This group meets every Monday from 2:15pm to 3:15pm at Sportspark and is led by Pearl Cooper.

The cost is £3 per person, payable to the volunteer in the Sportscafé before the session. This helps us keep an accurate attendance record.

About the Session

Enjoy a friendly, mainly seated exercise-to-music class designed for people with Parkinson’s. The sessions are gentle, enjoyable and focus on improving mobility, coordination and confidence. Carers are very welcome to attend.

Carer Guidance

For new attendees who are accompanied by a carer, we ask that the carer stays for the first two sessions. This allows Pearl to complete an initial assessment and discuss any specific support needs.

If you have any questions about these arrangements, please contact Pearl Cooper on 01603 455149. These guidelines are in place to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort.

Stay for a Chat

After each session, many participants stay for coffee or tea in the Sportscafé (55p per person). It’s a great chance to relax, make new friends and share experiences.

How to Join

There’s no need to book in advance, simply come along and join us. We look forward to welcoming you.

Special Olympics at Sportspark

Sportspark works in partnership with Special Olympics GB to deliver inclusive, tailored sporting opportunities for people with intellectual and learning disabilities.

Special Olympics is focused on ability, not disability. Their programmes are non-elite and open to all abilities, using an inclusive ability-banding system that allows participants to take part, develop skills, and compete at a level that feels right for them.

Through our partnership, we support Special Olympics athletes by providing a welcoming, accessible environment at UEA Sportspark, where participants can enjoy being active, build confidence, and be part of a supportive sporting community.

Opportunities to get involved
