About Norfolk Sports Academy

The Norfolk Sports Academy (NSA) award is designed to support and develop athletes as they work toward reaching their full potential. Each programme is tailored to the individual, ensuring every athlete receives the guidance and resources that best support their performance journey. Our shared aim is simple: to help athletes succeed.

We welcome applications from athletes who meet our eligibility criteria. Applicants should be 18 or over and currently representing England or Great Britain at age group or senior level (or their EU home country). Athletes who are part of an England or GB development squad, and who have attended an England or GB potential talent training camp within the past 12 months, are also encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

Our eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • You are a UK or EU citizen and a full-time resident in Norfolk

  • You are 18 years or older

  • You currently represent England or Great Britain at age group or senior level (or EU home country)

  • You are part of an England or GB development squad having attended an England or GB ‘potential talent’ training camp within the last 12 months

  • Available to attend an induction event, required training events and appear as an ambassador when required

Awards

The Norfolk Sports Academy is a scholarship scheme providing support to Norfolk based athletes competing nationally or regionally, through a Tiered award system.

Successful athletes who are accepted on to the scheme for support, will be provided support through our Tiered system. We have Tier 1 and Tier 2 awards which are detailed below.

Tier 1

Our Tier 1 award consists of the following accessible benefits:

  • – Financial support in the form of a £500 grant paid in two instalments.

  • Gym, Swim and Track Membership (currently worth £300)

  • Access to Strength and Conditioning supports

  • Access to physiotherapy

  • Access to nutrition support

  • Access to lifestyle support

  • Discounted sports massage

  • Support workshops

  • Branded sports kit

Tier 1 is typically suited to our athletes competing national representation level.

Tier 2

Our Tier 2 award consists of the following accessible benefits:

  • Gym, Swim and Track Membership (currently worth £300)

  • Access to Strength and Conditioning support

  • Access to physiotherapy

  • Access to nutrition support

  • Access to lifestyle support

  • Discounted sports massage

  • Support workshops

  • Branded sports kit

Tier 2 is typically suited to our athletes competing at regional representation level.

Ellie-Mae Rogers

Sport/Discipline: Athletics: 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m

Favourite sporting memory: Coming 1st in the 200m and 3rd in the 100m at the Senior England Athletics Championships, which led to my first Senior England Selection.

A bit about me: “I work in a secondary school as a behaviour assistant supporting students with behaviour, attendance, and mental health”.

Sport/Discipline: Athletics: 100m

Favourite sporting memory: Getting a medal at my first World Championships that gave me automatic qualification for the Paris 2024 Paralympics

A bit about me: “I also compete in Ju Jitsu, achieving 2nd place at the British Championships in 2021”.

Ethan Kirby

Sport/Discipline: Athletics: 400m

Favourite sporting memory: Being selected to run in Dubai 2022!

A bit about me: “I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Switzerland twice, where I enjoyed the stunning landscapes, and Dubai once”.

Shaun Cook

Sport/Discipline: Paracanoe

Favourite sporting memory: Securing a gold medal at the ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Denmark last year.

A bit about me: “I sustained a T-8 incomplete spinal cord injury from a motorcycle accident in 2018 that left me paralysed from my lower chest down, during my rehabilitation I discovered paddle”.
